Within its bi-annual report, the global cost and property consultant does however warn of ons going concerns regarding availability of funding.

Global cost data is used to chart tender price index movement within and between 32 key global markets. The three cities that have experienced the biggest growth in tender prices globally since October 2009 are Hong Kong (4%), Guangzhou (2.9%) and Darwin (2.3%).

Roger Hogg, Head of Global Research and Development at Rider Levett Bucknall, commented, “Over the past six months, positive signs of recovery have been evident in the Asia, Oceania and even some US markets, whilst Europe and the Middle East are still suffering from the fallout of the global financial crisis.”

Looking closer to home, construction activity remains depressed in London and the North West, but Bristol and Birmingham are showing signs of improvement.

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) UK has beaten companies such as IBM, John Lewis and GlaxoSmithKline to the top spot in The Telegraph’s annual survey of employers.

The research was compiled in association with CRF (Corporate Research Foundation) Institute, which researches the HR practices of certain British companies.

RLB was praised for its ‘strikingly non-hierarchical atmosphere’ and Operations Director, Ann Bentley, confirmed: “No one, however senior, has their own office or parking space – it’s also policy that no one travels first-class.”

Straight talking is also championed, both with clients and between staff, something which some people might not be used to, said Ann: “Some new recruits to the company might find the kind of direct discussions that go on rather outrageous, and it certainly can be challenging if someone disagrees with you. On the whole, however, it tends to be a positive atmosphere for people, which also helps boost the quality of their work.”

RLB is a global property and construction consultant with over 2,000 employees in more than 80 offices.
