A survey from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) showed that the RAC is ranked eighth out of 154 universities and colleges for graduate employability in the UK. According to HESA’s statistics, 96.4% of RAC graduates in 2009 were in employment or further study within six months of graduating. The figures are based on the Department of Leavers from Higher Education Survey.

Professor Paul Davies, vice principal of the RAC, commented: “I am delighted that our RAC graduates remain some of the most employable young people in the country. The RAC takes a great pride in equipping students with the transferable skills to make them highly employable and sought after in the workplace.”

Saturday 10 October was a red-letter day for 134 real estate and land management students at the Royal Agricultural College, because they finally graduated at the annual Convocation ceremony.

Principal, Professor Chris Gaskell, said: “I am delighted to congratulate such a large number of graduates on their achievement, as a result of their hard work. I wish them all every success for the future in what, I am sure, will be very rewarding careers.”

The ceremony concluded with a champagne and canapé reception in the historic quadrangle, where graduates were joined by friends, parents and VIP guests, including governors, the High Sheriff of Gloucester and the Mayor of Cirencester.

Students presented cheques totaling £16,659 – which had been raised during their Raise and Give (RAG) Week – to three charities: the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes and the Emmott Foundation.

Students graduating from the Royal Agricultural College (RAC) this year have been successful in securing jobs with some of the most prestigious companies in the UK and overseas.

Many graduating Land and Property Management students have obtained employment with top land agents, including Savills, Strutt & Parker, Smiths Gore, and Fisher German as trainee land agents.

Others have been successfully placed under a new scheme, initiated by the RAC, called the Graduate Surveyor Training and Employment Programme (GSTEP). Unique to the RAC and funded by HEFCE, the scheme provides firms with funding support to take on a graduate surveyor from the RAC for a six-month placement. This enables graduates to gain experience and improve their employability skills, whilst pursuing professional qualifications.
