Protege winner, Andrew Mason, on his world trip to China, Japan and N AmericaIf you think you’ve got what it takes to be a brilliant surveyor, then give your career a boost by applying for Rider Levett Bucknall’s fourth annual Protege initiative. The competition is designed to find the most talented budding surveyor in the industry and give them a fantastic start to their career.

The best student in the country will be selected through the Protege 2010 competition – supported by RICS and Building Magazine – and will be awarded a job at international property and construction consultancy, RLB. They will also get the chance to visit one of the company’s international offices for a short working holiday.

Don’t expect the process to be a walk in the park though. Candidates will be put through a series of rigorous technical and business tests, intended to allow real talent and determination to shine through. The competition is open to all cognate and non-cognate undergraduates studying in their final year, and to cognate students in their second year looking for a year-out placement. The deadline for applications is 19th January 2010.

Rider Levett Bucknall recruitment manager Stephen Reilly says: “We are looking for more than just good academic qualifications. We are looking for well rounded people with ambition and good interpersonal skills.”
